What Is Luxury Judaica?

•

Luxury Judaica is a way of describing Jewish ritual objects and related designs made with particular attention to material, construction, and finish. The label alone does not tell you what a piece contains or how long it will last.

What to compare

Read the material specification: silver, silver plate, leather, fabric, and other finishes have different properties. Check dimensions, included items, and care instructions. Look at photographs of the details that matter to you.

For a mezuzah case, check the scroll size it accepts. For a kippah or tallit, confirm the fit. For a set, read the contents; a bag set does not mean that the ritual items inside it are included.

The David Roytman catalog

The catalog includes mezuzah cases, kippahs, tallits, tallit and tefillin bags, jewelry, tableware, art, and custom pieces. The Valentin Yudashkin collaboration has a separate collection of kippahs and jewelry.

Choosing a gift

Start with the recipient's taste and how they will use the gift. A piece for a doorway needs different information from a piece worn against the body. For a business gift, check the recipient's workplace policy and preferences.

Personalization and timing

Ask which personalization options are available on the selected piece. Confirm names and spelling before ordering, and ask for a production and delivery estimate if the gift has a deadline.
