The Western Wall in Jerusalem is a surviving section of the retaining wall that once enclosed the Temple Mount. It is the closest place of prayer to where the Temple stood. Jews have prayed there for centuries and press written petitions into the gaps between its stones. In English it is often called the Wailing Wall; in Hebrew, the Kotel.
The painting belongs to the Modern Paintings collection from David Roytman Luxury Judaica, which renders Jewish landmarks as contemporary artwork rather than as architectural record.
Each canvas is hand-finished by the brand's artists, so no two are identical.
