Mezuzah Case vs Mezuzah Scroll
What Is a Mezuzah Case? · Luxury Mezuzah Cases Guide
Mezuzah Case vs Mezuzah Scroll
The difference: The mezuzah scroll is the sacred parchment. The mezuzah case is the container that holds it on the doorway.
When shopping for a mezuzah, check whether the listing is for a case, a scroll, or both. The scroll goes inside the case, and the case must fit its size.
Case and scroll
| Object | What it is | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Mezuzah scroll | The parchment placed inside the case. | Is it kosher and properly sized? |
| Mezuzah case | The container on the doorway. | Does it fit the scroll and match the doorway? |
| Luxury case | A case selected for its material, finish, and design. | Does it fit the home, gift, or occasion? |
